With property taxes going out of control, disabled vets usually living on fixed incomes are on the very edge. Some of these are WWII, some Korean War, who knows when or where they served.
The State of Vermont raised the exemption of the first $40,000 of property appraisal for at least 50% disabled or greater veterans.
The minuscule numbers of Vets in each town isn’t going to break your bank; it might break theirs. Should they have checked with the town before serving?
