Daily Insanity

notes

Of all the items that seems to be happening is a little noticed connection between the reversal in life expectancy and the eight years of Obama and ObamaCare.

US life expectancy declines for first time in 20 years ~ Life expectancy in the United States has declined for the first time in more than two decades.

Data from the National Center for Health Statistics showed a drop for men from 76.5 years in 2014 to 76.3 in 2015, and from 81.3 to 81.2 for women.

The preliminary figures show rises in several causes of death, especially heart disease, dementia and accidental infant deaths.

Life expectancy last fell during the peak of the HIV/Aids crisis in 1993. [snip]

Dallas Police and Fire Pension Board ends run on the bank, stops $154M in withdrawals ~ The Dallas Police and Fire Pension System’s Board of Trustees suspended lump-sum withdrawals from the pension fund Thursday, staving off a possible restraining order and stopping $154 million in withdrawal requests.

The system was set to pay out the weekly requests Friday. Pension officials said allowing the withdrawals would leave them without the liquid reserves required to sustain the $2.1 billion fund.

“Our situation is currently critical, and we took action,” board chairman Sam Friar said.

Pension officials and many police and firefighters have blamed Dallas Mayor Mike Rawlings for forcing the latest run on the bank. Dozens of retirees rushed to request withdrawals after Rawlings filed a lawsuit Monday to stop the withdrawals.

By then, more than $500 million had already gushed from the fund since the board proposed benefit cuts in August. [snip]

The mixing of Unions and Politicians with other peoples money always produces a fiscal clusterf#¢k of a phenomenal size. If you examine the pension systems of most cities one will find some form of misfeasance at the minimum, if not worse.

Global Warming Protesters Met With Bitter Cold, Snow  ~ A small group of global warming activists protesting oil and gas drilling outside the Department of Interior office in Colorado Thursday morning were met with bitter cold weather and snow.

About 10 “Keep It In The Ground” activists waved signs next to a busy road in the Denver area, calling for the Obama administration to stop issuing leases so companies can drill on public lands. Activists say drilling only exacerbates global warming.

The irony, however, is activists stood outside about 4 inches of snow with temperatures hovering in the 20s — in degrees Fahrenheit. The official low temperature was negative 10 degrees early Thursday morning, according to the National Weather Service.

Activists with 350.org and Food & Water Watch braved the cold to protest hydraulic fracturing, or “fracking,” after two measures to restrict the drilling technique failed to make November’s ballot. The pro-fracking Western Energy Alliance took photos of activists trying to stay warm. You can view the photos here.

Fools have a right to strut their idiocy in public. And we should be thankful they do, otherwise we would have to pay to see this stupidity.

Trump era confronts organized labor with gravest crisis in decades ~ President-elect Donald Trump’s Twitter attack this week on a union official, followed by his choice of a labor secretary who has criticized new worker protections, has rattled leaders of the American labor movement, who fear unions may be facing their gravest crisis in decades.
On Thursday, Trump announced that he would nominate as his labor secretary Andrew Puzder, a fast-food executive who has opposed additional overtime pay for workers and expressed skepticism about increasing the minimum wage. That followed a pair of Twitter messages Wednesday evening in which Trump attacked an Indiana union leader who had criticized him, saying the official had done a “terrible job representing workers.” [snip]

The NY Times decided to attack along the lines of his ad choices. Using bikini clad models munching on Hardee’s and Carl Jr. burgers caused the edit board to use an entire bottle of eye bleach. Those images are so anti-woman by the Lefts standards, they can barely speak to them.
Puzder retort as to why he uses good looking women in his ads was that ugly women in ads don’t sell burgers.

Here is the person who knows how to deal with the whining Left.
