Working as a photographer and as an artist, one does observe their surroundings and how all parts interact in said surroundings. The habits of people in various situations seem to be collective, that is almost all react the same way. I did I suppose until age 14, then I was brought up short by a comment by one of the farm hands on a rainy day. He asked me if the rain hurt. I said no. then he said, “Why are you walking around with your head down?”
That was my “Road to Damascus” moment. It is times like these that make or break one’s awareness of their space in the world.
Head Down and all scrunched up
I made this photo in NYC in 1972; a hard rain and it must have hurt. Even the guy with the umbrella was running.
