Knives are too sharp and filing them down is solution to soaring violent crime, judge says

A judge has proposed a nationwide programme to file down the points of kitchen knives as a solution to the country’s soaring knife crime epidemic.

Last week in his valedictory address, retiring Luton Crown Court Judge Nic Madge spoke of his concern that carrying a knife had become routine in some circles and called on the Government to ban the sale of large pointed kitchen knives.

Latest figures show stabbing deaths among teenagers and young adults have reached the highest level for eight years, and knife crime overall rose 22 per cent in 2017. [snip]

“The reason why these measures have little effect is that the vast majority of knives carried by youths are ordinary kitchen knives. Every kitchen contains lethal knives which are potential murder weapons.

As a result – said the judge – the most common knife a youth will take out is eight to ten inches, long and pointed, from his mother’s cutlery tray.

He asked: “But why we do need eight-inch or ten-inch kitchen knives with points?

“Butchers and fishmongers do, but how often, if at all, does a domestic chef use the point of an eight-inch or ten-inch knife? Rarely, if at all.”

“Acknowledging that any blade could cause injury, the judge pointed out “slash wounds are rarely fatal.”

So, he said: “I would urge all those with any role in relation to knives – manufacturers, shops, the police, local authorities, the government – to consider preventing the sale of long pointed knives, except in rare, defined, circumstances, and replacing such knives with rounded ends.

“It might even be that the police could organise a programme whereby the owners of kitchen knives, which have been properly and lawfully bought for culinary purposes, could be taken somewhere to be modified, with the points being ground down into rounded ends,” he said. [snip]

Once more the Loons on the Left blame the object rather than their idiotic laws.

When the Left doesn’t like an action, they feel the need to show their type of tolerance.

Shoppers Step Over Bodies at Hogg-Led Publix Protests

After having begun the week receiving national attention for being run by people too stupid to know the difference between academic achievement and pornography, Publix Supermarkets Inc. finished it letting everyone know that the company’s corporate stupidity is here to stay:

Liberal Democrats who believe in  bullying people and/or corporations into submission ought to feel proud today, ladies and gentlemen, because thanks to the bullying of David Hogg and his peers, one major Florida company has just abdicated its free speech rights.

The bullying started this week after Hogg, a survivor of the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School mass shooting in Florida three months earlier, began targeting a popular employee-owned supermarket chain that employees over 190,000 Americans.

Publix supermarket chain attracted the 18-year-old gun control zealot’s ire after he learned that it had contributed over half a million dollars to the Florida gubernatorial campaign of Adam Putnam, a Second Amendment advocate and proud NRA member.

For those who have been busy enjoying life and not reading news about David Hogg, the kid’s modus operandi (not dirty, Publix, I swear!) is to use his Prized Progressive Puppet status to bully anyone who disagrees with him into silence. As the progs and Democrats really have nothing else going for them at the moment, he’s getting an extension on his fifteen minutes of fame.

While Hogg’s spiteful focus is currently on NRA supporters, the odds are probably pretty good that the kid will be branching out to a variety of other leftist issues before long. These thoughts and actions aren’t his own, remember. His handlers are grooming him for bigger things. Look for him to be targeting anyone who opposes taxpayer funding of Planned Parenthood any day now. [snip]

Tripping over one of these fools and delivering an elbow to another’s solar plexus should convince them that BS protest can be painful.

Police: Holly Hill Little Caesars employee shoots, kills attacker wearing mask

HOLLY HILL, Fla. – A Holly Hill Little Caesars employee shot and killed a masked man who attacked him with a wooden post and scissors late Saturday, according to a police report.

Heriberto Feliciano, 28, was working at the pizza parlor at 158 Ridgewood Avenue around 11:50 p.m. when he was attacked by a man wearing a “clown mask,” police said.

The masked man, who police have not identified, hit Feliciano on the face and shoulder with a wooden post until it broke, and then tried to stab him with scissors, police said.

Feliciano told police he was able to reach a gun on him and shot the man four to five times at close range, according to the police report.

The masked man was taken to Halifax Medical Center, where he later died.

Police Chief Steve Aldrich said there’s no indication that anyone beside the masked man was involved in the attack.

“I’m glad that he was able to defend himself and that he’s okay. It’s just unfortunate that this whole episode occurred,” he said.

Fortunate for Heriberto that he doesn’t reside in the UK. There he would have been arrested for defending himself and causing the death of the perp. That he used a gun would have caused a myocardial infarction.
