California Dispatches Goats to Eat Brush, Prevent Wildfires

California firefighters are enlisting help from some unusual allies to prevent more deadly wildfires from ripping across the state — goats.

The Ventura County Fire Department is releasing hundreds of goats next week north of Los Angeles to eat dead brush that could become fuel for a fires.

“They’ll eat until we like the way the landscape looks, and then we move them to another area,” Captain Ken VanWig, who oversees the department’s vegetation management program, said in an interview. “They’re very effective.” [snip]

One might think that dispatching the enviro-nazis to do the work of the goats would be more efficacious.
After all there are far more of those Watermelons than goats. It too would give them the chance to actually DO something about the environment.

Feminist Attacks Pro-Trans Twitter as a ‘Boys Club’

Last year, Twitter permanently banned the feminist journalist Meghan Murphy for tweets disagreeing with transgender identity. She’s suing. Ironically, Twitter issued the final ban for a tweet referring to a man as a man, even though he presented as male on social media at the time. Murphy has slammed Twitter as “sexist,” and her lawyer agreed that the company seems to act like a “boys club.”

“We don’t know who’s making the decisions here, but with respect to her speech, it does seem to be a boys club,” Noah Peters, one of Murphy’s lawyers, told PJ Media on Wednesday. (Supporters can donate to the legal fund here.)

Last December, Murphy wrote an article about her suspension and Twitter’s alleged sexism. She recalled receiving “numerous, explicit violent threats,” which the company refused to take down. “I have been told to ‘shut up and die,’ to ‘choke,’ to ‘commit suicide,’ and so on and so forth,” she wrote. “All of these tweets, which seem to very clearly fit within the definition of ‘abusive tweets,’ were lobbed my way attached to the word ‘TERF,’ which, as most of you know, is a term used to smear and denigrate those who question transgender ideology.”

“Indeed, it is a term primarily aimed at women, only used in the pejorative, with the intentional purpose of bullying the target and damaging their reputation. That is to say, it inarguably fits the definition of a slur,” Murphy noted.

Yet it seems Twitter did more than just allow slurs and incitements of violence against Murphy. Jonathan Yaniv — who occasionally identifies himself as “Jennifer” — bragged about getting Murphy suspended, and called for her to be charged with hate crimes under Canadian law. Her crime? Opposing transgender identity on Twitter by saying, “Men are not women” and “Trans women are not women.” [snip]

Sources: Police investigating whether Jussie Smollett staged attack with help of others, allegedly being written off ‘Empire’

Chicago police confirmed Thursday that detectives are talking to two persons of interest in connection with the alleged attack on “Empire” actor Jussie Smollett.
Multiple sources have told ABC7 Eyewitness News that police are investigating whether Smollett and the two men staged the attack allegedly because Smollett was being written off of “Empire.”

A source familiar with the investigation told the ABC7 I-Team that Smollett failed to appear for an interview with detectives earlier Thursday, but has since spoken with police.

Chicago Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson contacted ABC7 to say they are continuing to treat Smollett as a victim and the investigation remains ongoing.

Chicago police told ABC News, “Police are investigating whether the two individuals committed the attack – or whether the attack happened at all.”

Smollett released a statement Thursday evening, saying, “Today Jussie did answer routine followup questions for Chicago Police Department and continues to cooperate.” [snip]

A source briefed on the Smollett investigation confirmed to ABC News that Chicago police are questioning the two persons of interest — one of whom has appeared on “Empire.”

The law enforcement official also told ABC News that the homes of the persons of interest were raided Wednesday night. Police removed shoes, electronic devices and other items they believe could help them determine if the two people played any role in the assault. [snip]
